About Me
This is my second year in a first grade classroom. I first started working for the district in 2010 as a substitute after I graduated high school. I later got hired on full time as a Teacher aide and worked 8 years in Pre-K. Though I didn't originally go to college for a teaching degree, I realized I was meant to be in the classroom and started working towards my alternative teaching certification. I enjoy being in the classroom and helping students learn and grow.
Fun Facts
I have a degree in art. I attended the Art Institute of Houston before it was closed down. With my bachelor's degree in art, I was able to work through an alternative teaching program for my teaching degree.
I enjoy games and movies. There's nothing better than going to the movies and buying a large popcorn or staying home to play games with friends, especially on the weekends.
I love bubble tea and ramen. While I've never been a coffee drinker, I love tea. That includes hot tea, ice tea, and especially bubble tea, with taro and honeydew being my top favorites. Ramen is my go to for a hot and soothing meal. Rather it's at a restaurant or cooking instant noodles in a ramen pot, it's one of my favorites.
Class Overview

Our classroom is a community where every child is valued, encouraged to share ideas, and supported in taking risks. We focus on building strong literacy skills though guided reading, phonics, and daily writing opportunities. In math, students explore number sense, problem-solving, and mathematical thinking through hands-on activities and discussion. We also weave in science, social studies, and social-emotional learning to help students grow both academically and personally.
Most importantly, 1st grade is about discovering the joy of learning! Through engaging lessons, collaborative centers, and meaningful projects, studets will become active learners who take pride in their progress.
