Mr. Alejandro - Room 2104
Howdy, I'm Mr. Alejandro and if you're reading this, you are in either my geometry or advanced algebra 2 class. Or your child is in my classes. Or maybe the both of y'all are in one of those classes!
I graduated from Galena Park High School and then attended San Jacinto College for a short time to save on tuition cost as I was paying my own way through college. I transferred to Texas A&M University where I graduated in 2016 (A-Whoop!) with a Bachelors of Science in geophysics and a minor in mathematics.
I think math is really important for everyday life because it helps develop critical thinking skills and problem solving skills. Two things that are key for an easy life.
Developing math skills, to me, is like exercising; while at first it's tough and exhausting and your instinct is to give up because it's difficult (and no one likes doing things that are difficult or that you're not immediately good at), you'll find that the more you do it, the better you get at it and the easier it becomes.
So, think of my class like going to the gym where you come to get those math gainz.
None for the moment.
Our class does not have an EOC or STAAR test, HOWEVER, we still take a test required by the district. This test is the known as the TSIA 2.0 and is a college readiness entrance exam. The primary focus for the first semester (August - December) will be to get students to be capable of succeeding in this college readiness test. This will be student's first attempt at this test. They may be deemed college ready at the end of the exam. If they are not, they can attempt the test again at a later date, or during their junior and senior years of high school. The TSIA 2.0 exam is paid for by the school.
