Education and Training Instruction- Senior Class Sponsor - Student Council - Lead Mentor Teacher

Welcome to Education and Training!

The Education and Training program is designed or high school students and consists of 3 different courses offered for GPISD students.

Firs, in Principles of Education and Training, students will explore various careers available within the Education and Training Career Cluster. By using self-knowledge as it relates to educational and career information, students will analyze various careers within the Education and Training Career Cluster and develop a graduation plan that leads to a specific career choice in the student's interest area.

Second, Instructional Practices in Education is a field-based (practicum) internship that provides students with background knowledge of child and adolescent development as well as principles of effective teaching and training practices. Students work under the joint direction and supervision of both a teacher with knowledge of early childhood, middle childhood, and adolescence education and exemplary educators or trainers in direct instructional roles with elementary-, middle school-, and high school-aged students. Students learn to plan and direct individualized instruction and group activities, prepare instructional materials, develop materials for educational environments, assist with record keeping, and complete other responsibilities of teachers, trainers, paraprofessionals, or other educational personnel. Students shall be awarded two credits for successful completion of this course.

Last, Practicum in Education and Training is a field-based internship that provides students background knowledge of child and adolescent development principles as well as principles of effective teaching and training practices. Students in the course work under the joint direction and supervision of both a teacher with knowledge of early childhood, middle childhood, and adolescence education and exemplary educators in direct instructional roles with elementary-, middle school-, and high school-aged students. Students learn to plan and direct individualized instruction and group activities, prepare instructional materials, assist with record keeping, make physical arrangements, and complete other responsibilities of classroom teachers, trainers, paraprofessionals, or other educational personnel. Students shall be awarded two credits for successful completion of this course. A student may repeat this course once for credit provided that the student is experiencing different aspects of the industry and demonstrating proficiency in additional and more advanced knowledge and skills.

I believing in pushing students beyond the boundaries of their current level of comfort so that they will grow. In class, we will focus on skills that improve students' capabilities. Students should expect to complete assignments in a timely manner. As mature, intelligent individuals, each with his and her own voice, discussions will be a focal point in class. Students should be prepared each day with knowledge of the courses in which they are enrolled, questions and ideas!
