Thank you families for joining us on the parent orientation (8/26/26).
If you were unable to attend, we started in the cafeteria with a school presentation. Then parents headed over to their child's classroom, where there was a brief presentation and students gave their parents a tour of the class.
Today's Kindergarten is what 1st grade use to be! It is not the kindergarten you experienced as a child.
The high expectation in Kindergarten is to have our children reading before they enter 1st grade.

Students did not need to come into kinder knowing how to read, but letter knowledge and sounds are a major plus.
Students will be assessed to determine reading level in August.

Sept.- December
Students will begin learning how to read with the letter sound knowledge obtained. Segmenting and blending will be happening as well as sight word knowledge.
Next assessment will be done around December, students are expected to be at a level B/C reading.

Students will need to read at an instructional level E by the end of the school year.
This can be done, with help at home. Please read daily as we do at school.
End-of-year assessment will happen in April and students need to be at an instructional E reading level.
