The dark ages

Introduction

      During the medieval times it was dark with the government system and everything else. First the feudal system, they used serfs just to get service. Then the black death, the black death killed around 70-million people. Also the weapons were used for violence. This happened in the middle ages era.

 Feudalism

    Feudalism was the government System back in the days in the middle ages; it was formed to help not only the king but peasants too. According to the website “The lord owned the land and everything in it. He would keep the peasants safe in return for their service.”(Feudalism and medieval)  The feudal system was organized by level. The high level means the king, and the lowest level is the peasant. The website states “Under the feudal system land was granted to people for service. It started at the top with the king granting his land to a baron for soldiers all the way down to a peasant getting land to grow crops.”(Middle ages feudal system) It works like an infinite loop. The king gives land to the baron for soldiers all the way to the peasants. It starts off with the king then the baron and lastly with the serfs.

   Although it was a government system followed by all, most people did not benefit and it came at a great risk of becoming serfs.The website says “In theory, the king was the chief feudal lord, but in reality, the individual lords were supreme in their own territory. Many kings were little more than figurehead rulers.”(Feudalism and medieval) Most people that did not benefit would have regretted it if they knew it came with a great risk of becoming serfs.

   Feudalism ended when the great downfall of feudalism and the strong monarchies. They both agreed and signed to take down feudalism once and for all. They would probably end feudalism because of the serfs and everything. Also feudalism probably became a great problem in the middle ages. That is why they ended feudalism. That is the end of feudalism and its system.

 Black Death

     The Black death was a virus in the middle ages. It was 1346 and the beginning of the black death outbreak. Also it supposedly killed  75 million people. According to the website “The Black Death was caused by swelling in the lymph nodes.”(history of black death) No one actually knows where it came from but scientists say it came from fleas carried by rats.

     The black death works by just infecting people and killing them. In the text it also says “Once the disease reached the lungs of the malnourished, it was then spread to the wider population through sneezes and coughs.Whatever the cause of the infection, death was often very quick for the weaker victims.” (The Black Death of 1348 to 1350) The black death was a powerful virus, it even was a septicaemic plague. This means it had a one hundred mortality kill rate.

   Although black death was a virus a lot of people suffered and a lot died. Also the Black death did not care if they benefit from it or not because it is a virus. If you get infected by the black death then you have no choice. In the website it says “The Black Death had three manifestations -- bubonic plague, pneumonic plague, and septicaemic plague. The bubonic plague had a thirty to seventy-five percent mortality rate. This manifestation of the disease was characterized by the characteristic swelling of lymph nodes (buboes) along the neck, armpits, and groin.”(History of black death)

    The Black death ended in 1353 which meant good for the people. The people can finally stop suffering from the painful Black death. It ended because of the implementation of quarantine. Quarantine means to remain in their homes. The black death finally ended, so now the people are safe from the virus. People were getting killed in the middle ages from left to right. 

 Weapons 

   Weapons were like axes, maces, long swords, Bows and spears. All of those weapons were used in the war that happened in the middle ages. They were mainly used to slash their enemies with violence or to threaten them.

    To use a weapon is to just swing it and try to hit them. For a bow you have to pull the string that is attached to the actual bow then let go. Also if you are using a bow you need to have great aim. Also According to the text “Many knights considered the longbow to be a cowardly weapon. However, the longbow became a major part of winning battles in the Middle Ages. The longbow could attack from a distance or a castle wall.”(A knight’s Armor and weapons)

 Long swords are probably hard to hit but have range. The text states that “The lance was a long wooden pole with a metal tip and hand guards. Because the lance was so long, the knight could attack from his horse. This gave the knight a serious advantage against foot soldiers. The lance could also be used to knock enemy knights off of their horses.” (A knight’s Armor and weapons)

   A lot of people suffered from the sharp weapons. The people from the dark middle ages were supposed to defend themselves with the weapons. People suffered from axe swing, stab by a dagger, shot by a bow, and slash by a sword. The people from the middle ages did not deserve the murder.

    The sword era ended in 1945. That means that the people from the middle ages can finally be in peace from the slashing. They stopped making bows at the end of the 19th century. Also longswords stopped in the 12th and 17th century.  The people are finally over with the violence and the stabbing. 

Conclusion 

 The middle ages era was a tragic thing that happened back then. The feudal system was for the king to get service and work for ages. The black death had killed almost the whole population. The weapons were so bloody. This era is so important because they created modern europe.
