Spiro Amarantos
Coach Amarantos is a proud Galena Park alum from the class of 1989. He graduated college from the University of Houston and began teaching and coaching in Galena Park ISD. Coach Amarantos is entering his 27th year in education and his 22st in GPISD, with the last 7 years as the Athletic Coordinator/Head Football Coach of the fighting yellowjackets. He has spent time at Summer Creek HS and Porter HS. Spiro was married to his wife Kristi, who was a fixture at all of his games for over 25 years, before she passed away. He is the proud father of their two boys, Carter and Cooper. Coach Amarantos loves traveling, fishing, listening to live music, and hanging out with friends and family.

Ronnie Whigham
Coach Whigham is a proud Galena Park alum. He graduated College from The University of Houston. Coach Whigham is entering his 30th year of coaching. The last 7 here at Galena Park, and 10th overall at Galena Park. He has coaching stints at Liberty HS, C.E. King HS, Huffman HS, Baytown Lee HS, and Baytown Sterling HS. Coach Whigham is married to his amazing wife Cindy and they have 5 children; Austin, Kristie, Caden, Cambrea, & Karlie. He and his wife also have one grandson, Lance.

Chris Morales
Coach Morales is a proud graduate of Texas State University. He also holds a master's degree in educational leadership from Lamar University. He is entering his 18th year of teaching and coaching. Coach Morales prides himself on building relationships with kids and setting high standards and goals. Coach Morales is engaged to be married to his beautiful fiancé Michelle. Together they have 5 children.

Alex Alvarez
Coach Alvarez. is the special teams coordinator, strength and conditioning coordinator, as well as an offensive line position coach. Off the field, he teaches boys physical education. He has been coaching since 2012 and started with the Galena Park Family in 2022. Coach Alvarez has been around football since 2003, starting in Clear Creek High School, followed by Kilgore College then he was blessed to play in the Big 12 at Iowa State University. He obtained his Bachelor's degree from Iowa State University and his Master's in educational Leadership from Lamar University. His biggest accomplishment is spending time with his large family of 6. His wife is the agricultural science teacher at Galena Park High School, and he has 4 children who attend Galena Park ISD. God, Family, and Football are the way of life in his household.

Chip Houston
Coach Houston is entering his 10th year coaching at Galena Park High School. He grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and graduated from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Coach Houston previously coached at Northshore HS, where he was a member of the coaching staff for the 2015 State Champions.

Jesse Balderas
Coach Balderas is a proud graduate of Texas A&M Kingsville. Coach Balderas was a member of the TAMUK Men’s Track & Field team and Lone Star Conference champion in the hammer throw. He is entering his 17th year of coaching with stops in the Rio Grande Valley, Austin, and the greater Houston Area. During those 17 years, Coach Balderas has served as Defensive Coordinator, Assistant Head Football Coach, Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, Head Boys Track Coach, Head Powerlifting Coach, Head Wrestling Coach, and Middle School Head Coach. Coach Balderas is married to Stephanie Balderas.

Played Running back/ H back at Texas Southern University earning his bachelors degree in Sport Management. Started his coaching career back home in the DFW area, moved to Houston 3 years ago to coach LBs at Shadow Creek High School. Entering his 1st year at Galena Park High School teaching PE and coaching defensive backs. Coach Mitchell strives to empower students and student athletes to become high achievers by Instilling confidence, discipline, strong work ethic, and leadership skills to prepare them for long life success.

Dustin Porterfield
Dustin M. Porterfield enters his first season at Galena Park HS after spending the last 3 seasons at Klein Collins HS. He spent the prior 6 years at Summer Creek HS. All years of coaching have been spent working with Cornerbacks and Safeties. Coach Porterfield graduated from North Shore HS, before moving on to Texas State University, where he is a proud Alum.

Flavio Recio
Coach Recio is entering his 14th year teaching and coaching and his 5th at Galena Park HS. Coach Recio started his coaching career at Woodland Acres Middle School. He has had stops at Baytown Lee High School and Dayton High School. Coach Recio is married to his Wife Jessica and they have two sons Lorenzo(4) and Angelo (2). At Coach Recio's previous stops, he has Served as a Varsity WR's coach, Head Freshman Football Coach, and Head Baseball Coach.

Karl Koether
Coach Koether is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University. He is starting on his 5th year at Galena Park and his 10th year overall. He has coached from 4A all the way to 6A. He is the assistant defensive line coach for the varsity and the freshmen offensive/defensive line coach, as well as the Varsity throwers coach for shotput. He has also coached multiple district champions in shot put, as well as a 2x state powerlifting champion. He has coached football, basketball, track and field, and powerlifting. He is currently married to Gabriela Arcila.

Andrae May is a Galena Park ISD alumnus and a proud graduate of Oklahoma State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Education. As a first-year coach, he is passionate about developing young athletes both on and off the field. May is dedicated to instilling discipline, leadership, and integrity in the youth of his community. He strives to create a positive environment that encourages growth, accountability, and confidence. Through his work, he aims to make a lasting impact on the next generation.
