El Camino

This artwork was created by Bryan Ibarra. It is a tribute to his parents who met in El Camino, fell in love and traveled to America. It was created with pen and ink on the actual map they used to find their way from Mexico to Texas. This Artwork won a Regional Gold medal and Area Gold Medal at the visual Art Scholastic Event and advanced to State judging.

Once Upon A Time In Mexico

This photo by Alma Villegas shows a street scene in Mexico. She used a black and white filter to add a more dramatic feeling. Her photo won the Gold Medal at the State Visual Art Scholastic Event.

Mischief

Zaira Villegas created this drawing of her cat by using only a white colored pencil on black paper. It is challenging as the artist must think a bit backwards to achieve their expectations. The hard work paid off as she created an artwork that possesses amazing contrast and emphasis, which earned her a Gold Medal at Regional V.A.S.E.

Finding The Cure

I created this artwork, which shows high school chemistry students working together on a lab experiment. These students, portrayed in the artwork, could possibly be the generation that finds a cure for the Flu, the Corona-virus or even cancer. Using "team work", to help solve problems, aids in finding the desired solutions.  One can see by the surprise and excitement in their faces that they have achieved the desired outcome and will now move on to finding the next, and more difficult, solutions. -Daniel Salazar

Saving Lives

The artwork I created shows how doctors work together every day to save lives. You can see how they are focused on the task at hand and are passionate about their work. What amazing things they achieve when they work together. We have some of the greatest doctors and hospitals right here in Houston and I wanted to honor them by capturing them in one of my artworks. -Claudia Garza
