Dear Parents, Your child is about to explore representing and interpreting data. To master this skill, they will build on their knowledge of graphs from second grade. In second grade, your child learned to write and solve one-step addition and subtraction word problems, using data represented on pictographs and bar graphs, with intervals of one on the graphs. As your child extends their knowledge of this concept throughout third grade, they will learn the following concepts:
● Analyzing, interpreting, representing, and using data to problem solve–
● Analyze data and represent data in a variety of ways, including using frequency tables, dot plots, pictographs, and bar graphs with scale intervals–
● Use data that has been represented on such visual aids and solve one- and two-step word problems
