Graphic Design 1/2 (Accelerated)
Course Description:
Graphic Design 1 introduces students to design principles, typography, color theory, and industry-standard software such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Students will work on creative projects that develop both technical skills and visual communication abilities.
Grading Policy:
60% - Projects/Daily Assignments 40% - Tests/Quizzes
Required Materials:
- Sketchbook or design journal
- USB flash drive or cloud storage account - Headphones (optional but recommended)
Course Goals:
- Understand and apply the elements and principles of design - Develop proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software
- Build a personal portfolio of design projects
Class Expectations:
1. Respect the equipment - No food, drinks, or gum near computers.
2. Stay on task - Use the computer only for class-related activities.
3. Log in with your own account - Do not share passwords.
4. Save your work often - Technology issues are not an excuse for late work.
5. Ask before printing - Limit waste.
6. Handle equipment with care - No rough handling of keyboards, mice, or headsets.
7. Follow internet and software guidelines - No unauthorized downloads or gaming.
8. Respect others - Keep noise to a reasonable level.
9. End of class procedure - Log off, push in your chair, and leave the station clean.
10. Be responsible - Any intentional damage will result in disciplinary action and possible financial responsibility.

Principles of Audio/Visual (AV)
Course Description:
Principles of AV introduces students to the world of video production, photography, and audio technology. Students will learn about pre-production planning, filming techniques, and post-production editing using industry-standard software.

- Notebook for scripts and planning - USB flash drive or cloud storage - Headphones for editing
Course Goals:
- Understand the production process from concept to final product
- Operate cameras, lighting, and audio equipment safely and effectively - Edit videos using Adobe Premiere Pro and other software
- Create short films, commercials, and news segments
