Description of Course:

Counseling and Mental Health: In Counseling and Mental Health, students model the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue a counseling and mental health career through simulated environments. Students are expected to apply knowledge of ethical and legal responsibilities, limitations, and the implications of their actions. Professional integrity in counseling and mental health care is dependent on acceptance of ethical and legal responsibilities

Unit 2: Mental Illness Conditions and Disorders

Unit 3: Treatment Modalities

Human Growth: Human Growth and Development is an examination of human development across the lifespan with emphasis on research, theoretical perspectives, and common physical, cognitive, emotional, and social developmental milestones. The course covers material that is generally taught in a postsecondary, one-semester introductory course in developmental psychology or human development.

Unit 2 Stages of Human Growth and Development 

Unit 3:Strategies Promoting Lifetime Human Development

Grading:

Each six weeks will consist of a minimum of 3 major grades and 8 daily grades. Galena Park ISD will provide communication of revised “grading” policies in the event of a transition to 100% remote learning.

Grades will be placed in the following categories:

Daily – 50%

Major – 50%
