Class overview
My main objective is for you to be physically active. I want you to have fun while being physically active. This is now our third year as a STEM Academy: This means that in addition to the fitness activities, movement exploration, and sports skills being taught in the gym the students will participate in various STEM activities throughout the year. We will also draw our activities from the CATCH Curriculum.
About me: I have taught for 15 years in Galena Park with fourteen of them at Havard Elementary as your Physical Education Teacher. I am also certified in special education (taught this for over 15 years) and in ESL. I have also taught at the University of Houston and at San Jacinto College. Additionally, I have published several articles in various journals, presented at various conferences and at a regional education service center, and have served as a peer reviewer for a research journal. My bachelor's degree is in education and my master's degree includes a double major in physical and special education. I am married with two boys. I enjoy playing music, reading, writing, camping, and hiking.
Soccer News: The Orange Team (3rd & 4th grades) has completed its season. Although the record may not show it, we are happy and proud of our players efforts and progress. Each player demonstrated the courage and the will to compete on a high level. The Blue Team (4th & 5th grades) has also completed its regular season and is ranked 2nd. The playoffs will begin on February 23rd and conclude on March 2nd.
