Stretching & Flexibility:
What is it?
Stretching means to elongate your muscles.
When do you stretch? You may stretch in the morning when you first wake up. You may stretch after sitting down for too long. You may stretch if your muscles get sore!
Flexibility is the outcome of stretching. You have a greater range of motion the more you stretch. For example, how many of you can touch your toes? If you practice stretching every day, eventually you will be able to!
Other benefits of stretching:💪
Prevents Injuries – "When your muscles can stretch, you're less likely to get hurt when you run, jump, or fall."
🕺 Moves Feel Easier – "It helps you do big moves like touching your toes, doing cartwheels, or tying your shoes."
Better at Sports and Play – "Being flexible helps you kick, throw, tumble, and dance better!"
Helps You Relax – "Stretching before bed can help your body calm down after a busy day."
Lets practice some stretches! You can do these when you wake up, when you need to relax, or after you play sports! (Show kids how to stretch)
