To promote the progress of science and technologies related to the Aerospace Sector through education, teaching/learning, research, innovation and extension , and the development of higher education professionals in subjects of interest to the Aerospace Sector in general and Brazilian Air Force Command in particular.
As an institution of higher education and research, ITA has the following guiding principles: professional ethics, critical thinking, excellence, social responsibility, and the integral formation of professionals and citizens.
The creation of Embraer resulted from a long-term investment of the Brazilian Government in developing the necessary conditions for designing and manufacturing airplanes in the country. In each decade after its creation in 1969, Embraer launched a different type of aircraft. In 1999, Embraer launched the program for Regional E-Jets ranging from 70 -110 passengers, which implied a high demand of new engineers. One alternative to cope with that was the creation of the Professional Master’s in Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering in 2002, in partnership with ITA. The main purpose of the program has been to provide specialized knowledge and skills to recently graduated engineers, in order to prepare them to work in multidisciplinary teams in Embraer engineering areas.

Within a few years after concluding their professional master’s program on aeronautical engineering, graduates are expected to:
Have established themselves as technically competent professionals and responsible citizens who are socially and ethically committed to working in a global and sustainable society.
Actively participate in or lead multidisciplinary teams to tackle technologically complex challenges to meet the needs of the Aeronautical sector in Brazil in general and Embraer in particular.
Execute high quality research and development activities, effectively communicate results and manage R&D aeronautical projects.
Continually pursue advanced education, research, and innovation in science and technology in aeronautical areas.
PMAME students, by the time of their graduation, will have developed skills, knowledge, and behaviors equivalent to an ABET-accredited BE on Aeronautical Engineering.
[Basic Aeronautical Knowledge] PM-EAM graduates should be capable of integrating basic knowledge from several areas of aeronautical engineering such as Aerodynamics, Performance, Flight Mechanics and Control, Structures, Propulsion, Manufacturing and Design for RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintenance and Safety).
[Advanced Problem Solving] PM-EAM graduates should have the skills and advanced knowledge to identify, formulate, and solve aeronautical and mechanical engineering problems.
[Aircraft Design and Communication] PM-EAM graduates should have the skills and behavior necessary to effectively produce solutions, participate in multidisciplinary teams in aircraft design, and should be able to effectively communicate complex ideas and concepts in different forms.
[Independent Technical Research] PM-EAM graduates should be able to perform independent research, resulting in contributions to the following fields of aeronautical and mechanical engineering: Structures and Materials; Aircraft Systems; Manufacturing, and RAMS.
To get enrolled in the selection processes, candidates must have bachelor's engineering degree in one of the following careers: Aeronautics, Aerospace, Civil, Automotive, Computer Science, Control and Automation, Electrical, Electronics, Materials, Mechanics, Mechatronics, Metallurgy, Naval, Production, Chemistry, Telecommunications, among others.
The selection process is composed by the following steps:
Transcript analysis;
Technical exam;
Foreign Language Proficiency;
Soft skills Assessment.
