Hello, my name is Nicole Thelen and this is my fourteenth year teaching fifth grade at Explorer Elementary. I am proud to be a part of the Williamston Community School district, and I love being a Hornet!
I am passionate about creating a classroom environment that fosters a kind, safe, cooperative and respectful learning community. I like to tell my students that my classroom is "our home away from home" as we spend so much time together each day. I strive to keep all students engaged because I know they are capable of deep discussions and thoughtful conversations in all subject areas. I thoroughly enjoy listening to all of their wonderful ideas. I love teaching fifth grade because fifth graders have a great sense of humor and they are eager to learn. I love watching them grow over the course of a school year as I help prepare them for middle school and beyond.
My husband and I have two boys, Charlie and Tyler, and a little girl, Brooke. I have always wanted to be a teacher, so I have my dream job. When I am not in the classroom or grading papers, I am frequently hanging out with my family and friends who mean so much to me, watching sports - specifically baseball or basketball and reading or listening to good books.
