FOR A PLANNED ABSENCE (such as a family vacation):
With almost 85 students (and families) on Team Quest, there are a lot of circumstances that require students to miss school on occasion. We completely support students and families in their outside-of-school endeavors and have created some tools and a procedure to help students stay abreast of their work. We know that many families want their children to complete work ahead of time, but it is very difficult for teachers to predict the pacing for all students. Thus, while we support the decisions you make for your families and for your children, we ask that you are mindful that it will be necessary for your child to make up the work during or after his/her absence.
When you know your child will miss school, please do the following:
Email your child's advisor AND call the KRMS main office, telling us of the date your child will be out.
A few days before the absence, have your child figure out which classes he/she will miss and then have him/her visit those teachers. Teachers will give the student any paper work they might have, if possible, but we don't typically create folders of work for students. We also do not typically post assignments ahead of time, as it becomes very confusing for the students who are in classes.
In most cases, work will be accessible digitally on Google Classroom. Complete the work there, using the Daily Assignment Sheet as your guide.
Ask questions by accessing Team Quest teacher emails, above.
Check your student email account regularly and be sure to turn in work when you get back. Follow up with teachers.
Overall, please understand that instruction happens during the school day by the teachers. The work that we assign is practice on the instruction that we give in class. Given that, it might be necessary for students to set up an additional time to receive missed instruction during lunch or after school upon their return. While we are supportive of all of the out-of-school endeavors, we are only able to teach students when they are here; therefore, some students may struggle with their learning when they miss chunks of it.
