The Kentucky Association for Academic Competition Hall of Fame was created in 1997 and proudly honors those who have gone “above and beyond” in order to provide a brighter future for Kentucky students.

Rich Pond Elementary
For more than 20 years, Tawnya has been a driving force behind academic excellence, student growth, and coach development throughout the KAAC community – locally and statewide. Even after retiring from teaching, Tawnya continues to be a leading KAAC figure and mentor within her local community and across the state.
Her involvement touches nearly every corner of the organization. Tawnya has served as a League Administrator, Quick Recall and FPS coach, FPS trainer, KAAC board member, and contest official across all grade and competition levels. Most importantly, she has been an advocate for the program to the community, school and district leadership, students, colleagues, and peers. She is always working to strengthen the Academic Team programs across Kentucky. Her influence has shaped the experiences of students, coaches, and schools alike for decades.
Brescia
Rick Moman is synonymous with academic competition in western Kentucky. He has been integral to establishing a standard in academic competition, dedicating countless hours to its growth and success. Moman's influence can be seen in nearly every facet of KAAC, from quick recall to Future Problem Solving and everywhere in between.

Jason Thompson embodies the spirit of KAAC, having experienced it from all angles – as a student competitor, a dedicated coach, and a respected official. His journey through the ranks, from Bullitt Lick Middle School to Transylvania University, showcases his enduring passion for academic competition. Now, he's giving back to the community that shaped him, enriching the lives of countless students.
Jason Thompson's dedication to academic competition, honed through his involvement with KAAC, has come full circle. He is a true champion of knowledge and a driving force behind the continued success of quick recall/quiz bowl in Kentucky and beyond. The KAAC Legacy Award must recognize his outstanding contributions and the lasting impact he has made on the lives of countless students.
