Welcome to my revamped website! I have bid adieu to my weebly account (still a great web site creator!) and have simplified my online portfolio by using Google Sites.
Education made the smart, evidence-based decision to close Ontario schools. At the time, there was a two week period (not including March Break) to keep students and professional staff socially distanced. Since April 6, school boards have been responsible for directing teachers to provide emergency at-home distance learning activities to support families and provide "edutainment" for students during this unprecedented time in education. The learning that is happening at home is happening because students have learned from their teachers how to be resilient in tough times. They have learned the skills of time management, initiative, and responsibility from their teachers and in-class learning communities. There is no replacement for in-class learning. It has resulted in Ontario’s robust, world-class system. However, the transition to at-home learning has exposed the cracks in our society to many people who did see them before. Many families are struggling. Loss of income, little access to technology, precarious internet connectivity, and a lack of space have all contributed to many students struggling with at-home learning. Now more than ever, teachers are being called on to support all children. Every small act of kindness and support counts.
