Setting up your saw right with a RIVING KNIFE or SPLITTER is step one.
Setting up your saw with a guard so when you are foolish the blade is covered. Is step two.
Keeping material flat against the fence 100% is a practiced skill. Make the mistake without the other features installed and you are in trouble.
These are practiced skills like defensive driving you must apply to each cut...... at some point it will happen to you. Setup your saw right.
