Hi! I’m Ms. Girardin (a.k.a. Ms. G).
I teach Nutrition & Health (HFA4U) and Food & Culture (HFC3M/E) — exploring the safety, the science, the culture, and the big questions behind what we eat, how we eat it, and why.
Because food is never just food: it’s identity, health, history, environment, policy, and power.
Food tells stories — about people, place, and tradition.
In HFC3M, we explore world cuisines through flavours, techniques, and cultural practices. We learn how geography and history shape food traditions, compare dining etiquette across cultures, and examine how Canadian food culture has been influenced by the world — with hands-on cooking and inquiry along the way.
Food is fuel — but also science, policy, and power.
In HFA4U, we explore the politics of food, energy balance, nutrients, & nutrition across the lifespan, then connect it to real-world health, disease, trends, and issues of food security & equity. Expect practical skill-building in the kitchen, plus research and discussion that helps you make sense of nutrition in everyday life.
