Greetings Families,
My name is Mrs. Koza, and I am so excited to be teaching your child this year. I can't wait to get to know all of you! But first, let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I have been teaching for 13 years with the Thames Valley District School Board. This is my eighth year at Lambeth P.S., and I love being a Flyer! I have previously taught in various junior grades at Lord Nelson P.S., Valleyview P.S., and Standing Stone on the Oneida reservation.
I have been married for 24 years to my high school sweetheart, Tomek. He is living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Unfortunately, it has taken the muscles in his legs, so he uses a wheelchair to navigate the world. Thankfully, it is progressing slowly so we will have many more years with him. Tomek works for the City of London. We have 3 children, Kaylyn (Medical Radiation Technologist at University Hospital), Trevor (Mechanic Apprentice) and Serena (studying Occupational Therapy at Lambton College), and two grandbabies, Emersyn (2 years old) and Myles (7 months old). We have a very busy household!
In my spare time I enjoy walking, reading, and snuggling with my cats, Loki and Phoenix. We also love to do home renovations. We built our house in Delaware 20 years ago and, every year we like to renovate at least one room in our house. We have painted our kitchen five times! I think that we have an obsession with tearing down walls.
My philosophy of education is quite simple. My goal for each child is to help him/her reach his/her full potential by providing a safe and inclusive learning environment and engaging the students in inquiry-based, hands-on activities. I strive to make the class an accepting environment so that the students look forward to coming to class and enjoy the learning experience.
Open communication between home and school is an essential component of your child's education. To that end, I am always available to speak to you on the phone or in person. If you'd like to come in to speak to me, please let me know via email so that we can set up a mutually convenient time to address your concerns.
Finally, I want you to know how excited I am to have the opportunity to learn and grow with your child this year. I am looking forward to a fun, healthy and productive year!
Mrs. Kathleen Koza
