Assessment Levels of Learning Skills

Excellent - Students' understanding of the learning skill is impressive. Student is a role model in this area.

Good - Student demonstrates the learning skill independently. Others see the student demonstrating it often in the classroom and throughout the school.

Satisfactory - Student sometimes shows understanding of the learning skill but the student needs assistance and reminders to apply it.

Needs Improvement - The learning skill is challenging for the student. Many reminders are needed and guidance to learn how to demonstrate the skill are required.

RESPONSIBILITY

· coming prepared with materials and resources

· showing respect

· completing work on or before due dates

· taking ownership of my behaviour

· practising study habits regularly

· having the attitude that I am accountable for my learning.

ORGANIZATION

· having all required notes and handouts in order

· following directions

· using time effectively and efficiently during class

· gathering and choosing information that is appropriate for assignments

· organizing and managing information to help me complete my work as expected

· keeping track of daily work, assignments, and homework using an agenda, a calendar, and/or a daily schedule.

INDEPENDENT WORK

· following instructions

· being able to focus

· completing independent tasks on my own

· managing independent work periods effectively and efficiently

· making improvements to work based on feedback

COLLABORATION

· assuming and sharing roles and responsibilities with others

· respecting the ideas and opinions of others

· contributing in respectful ways

INITIATIVE

· approaching new learning situations with confidence and a positive attitude

Report card levels

A- to A+ The student has demonstrated the required knowledge and skills with a high degree of effectiveness. Achievement surpasses the provincial standard. (Level 4)

B- to B+ The student has demonstrated the required knowledge and skills with considerable effectiveness. Achievement meets the provincial standard. (Level 3)

C- to C+ The student has demonstrated the required knowledge and skills with some effectiveness. Achievement approaches the provincial standard. (Level 2)

D- to D+ The student has demonstrated the required knowledge and skills with limited effectiveness. Achievement falls much below the provincial standard. (Level 1)

R The student has not demonstrated the required knowledge and skills. Extensive remediation is required.
