In 2021, Google made age-based access setting changes to apps and services in Google and YouTube for students in elementary and secondary schools. After review by TVDSB staff and acknowledging the need to minimize impacts to students’ mid-year, these changes will be applied to the board’s Google and YouTube environment beginning September 1, 2022.
What Do These Changes Mean for Students?
TVDSB will be implementing the Age Restricted Experience setting for all elementary and secondary students. Some of the key changes affecting users can be found through this link, Age Restriction Access Changes, and are summarized as follows:

Can no longer watch or create live stream events
Can no longer see or post comments
Can no longer participate in live chat
Can no longer use apps, including YouTube Studio, YouTube Music, YouTube TV, YouTube Go, and YouTube VR
Will no longer access other features, including Cast on TV and Turn Restricted Mode on or off
Google Play Restrictions:
Can only see content rated Everyone, Everyone 10+, or Teen.

Dear parents and guardians,
This is a reminder for all students with IEPs who have been assigned a SEA laptop/chromebook.
Students must bring their SEA device to school each day that they are attending. We will not be storing SEA devices in resource this year. Students who have their own SEA device are expected to use it in class and at home. Classroom teachers will not be providing class sets of devices.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Montcalm Resource Staff
