St. Donat

TVDSB students have the opportunity to participate in a cultural and language immersion trip to St. Donat, Quebec. It is available to those enrolled in high school French courses. Thames Valley students have been participating in this trip for over 25 years and it continues to be an exceptional educational experience for students.

The experience includes several language sessions, including a music workshop, ecology workshop and scavenger hunt in the village of St. Donat. Students rehearse and record a song, participate in a drumming session, learn about local animals and plants, and converse with local merchants in order to complete their scavenger hunt.

Students receive 5 hours of ski or snowboard instruction from Canadian certified ski instructors at Mt. Garceau. They take part in cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing and skating on a 2km outdoor skating path through a local park, on which the students can enjoy the winter beauty while participating in a great Canadian pass-time.

This opportunity continues to provide our Thames Valley students with the opportunity to use their French outside of the classroom in an authentic setting while participating in Canadian winter activities which they enjoy!
