School Council Nomination Form for School Year 2026/2027 - sent home paper copy to all families at the beginning of the school year with the Welcome Back to School Newsleter.
At Meeting One, on October 6th, 2026, we did not have any nomination forms from the Community to vote on.
We will continue to host School Council at 6:00 PM prior to Home & School on the dates listed above.
"Parents can make a big difference in their child’s learning by talking with them about what they are learning at school.
In addition to talking with their child about their learning, parents and families can support their child’s success by finding ways to make a connection between what is being learned at school and outside the classroom, so that their child can apply their learning at home, at school and beyond.
We invite you to visit this site regularly. As we add new digital versions of the Ontario curriculum in all subjects and grades, more parent guides will also be available here."
School Council Roles
Chairperson
· voting member
· chair the council meetings ensuring they begin and end on time
· maintain order and focus on priorities during meeting
· participate on any committees established by the council
· encourage consensus among School Council members and facilitate the resolution of conflict
Vice Chairperson
· voting member
· assumes the Chairperson’s responsibility in his/her absence
Secretary
· voting member
· attends and records minutes for all School Council meetings
· prepares and distributes agenda prior to meetings
· posts/distributes minutes after each meeting
· ensures all parent inquiries are directed to the appropriate council contact
Treasurer
· voting member
· prepares and presents financial reports at School Council Meetings
· works with the head secretary to ensure Board policies and procedures are adhered to regarding collecting and distributing funds
· sign cheque requisition and provide documentation for all disbursements
· complete and submit Annual Financial Report
· Complete and Submit Annual School Council Report
Parent Representative
· voting member
· contributes to the discussions of the School Council
· solicits the views of other parents and members of the community to share with the School Council
Please note that the Education Centre will not be centrally producing and providing enough full-colour print outs of the school year calendar for every student in each school this year. Schools are encouraged to share the school year calendar digitally with families directly through school-based communications.
