What are Single Point Rubrics?

A single point rubric can be thought of like a balance scale. The target criteria or expectations are listed in the middle column. As a student self-assesses, they reflect on the middle criteria and check off the level 3 box if they feel they succeeded in meeting that criteria. If they feel they aren't quite there yet, they'd check off the level 2 box and know that they can use this criteria in creating their learning goal. If they feel they've exceeded an expectation, they can check the level 4 box, but will be asked to write an explanation as to why they think they deserve a level 4 for that criteria.

We have added some further reflective learning questions at the bottom of the rubric.

The teacher then sees the complete rubric. You can highlight the criteria levels you see. The student can then see if their evaluations are similar to yours. The goal is to create reflective learners that gain accuracy in self-assessing against criteria and set goals to move forward.
