January 13-17
Optional January Homework has been uploaded to Google Classroom. This includes math practice (EQAO style task cards, language tasks (writing prompts ), cursive writing, and some mindful colouring.
We are taking a short break from division - we're currently completing our patterning unit (graphing patterns and identifying/applying pattern rules).
We have our second persuasive letters due Wednesday Jan 15 (one rough draft is fine - just making sure we get the format down!), and then our final persuasive letter will be assigned Wed and due Thursday January 23rd. Some class time will be provided, however students might need to complete their final typed copy at home.
January 6-10
Welcome back!!
To start off the new year, we're going to be reflecting on goals that we made in December, and students will choose personal and class goals to focus on this month.
We will be continuing our division unit - quiz will be TBD. We still have some students who will be writing our multiplication test this week.
Other current focuses in math are geometry (angles, sorting shapes by geometric properties), and patterning (identifying geometric patterns, graphing growing patterns, etc). We have been working with these concepts often in our Number Talks, but it's time to dive in!
Literacy - we are continuing our persuasive and letter writing. We will be starting a new book report this month, which will tie into our media unit that is also starting this month.
Jan 13 - Music Playing test (line 82)
Jan 14 - health worksheet due
Jan 23 - Science test
Feb 4 - Book Report due (Persuasive/Media)
