The transition from elementary school to high school is an exciting but important transition. Each month I will be working with students, parents, and teachers to help each student make an informed decision about their transition to high school. Grade 8 students will begin making course selections for high school in January. I will be in contact with parents and guardians via email to keep them up to date with information on course selections, TVDSB Grade 8 information nights, and much more. Please take a look through the Forest City guidance webpage to explore the helpful tools to assist you and your child as you begin planning for secondary school. Every secondary school in TVDSB holds a Grade 8 Information Night. Information nights can begin as early as November but most schools offer Information Nights in January. Click HERE to view a list of TVDSB information nights.
Your child will be taught how to navigate myBlueprint. All TVDSB schools use this tool to submit course selections each year.
Forest City students feed into Clarke Road Secondary School. If you live out of area, please use this tool to check for your home school in your area.

If you are registering for a TVDSB school other than Clarke Road Secondary School, you must fill out an Out-of-Area Exemption Request Form. This form must be completed and submitted by the parent to the high school you are wishing to apply to. Please connect with me if you are planning on applying to an Out-of-Area school.
High School Here I Come! is a non-credit summer program for Grade 8 students who are starting at a TVDSB high school in September 2024. Students will be provided with a variety of learning skills and strategies designed to help them with their transition to secondary school. The registration link for this program usually opens in May.
Secondary school students in Ontario must complete 40 hours of community hours to receive their diploma. Once students graduate from elementary school they can begin accumulating volunteer hours. Please us this form to record any volunteer hours.
