Your child may receive English as a Second Language (ESL) support. The ESL program will help your child learn English while learning in all subjects (such as science, math, and geography). The ESL teacher will build on your child's current skills and collaborate with the classroom teacher to help them succeed. Multilingual language learners will receive language support in many subject areas.
We work with teachers and students on the content they are covering in the classroom in all curriculum areas.
We work on the academic language needed to be successful in all subjects (e.g. Social Studies, Science and Math). We teach language everywhere!
Home languages are an asset and are included in the classroom.
Students may recieve tutorial support, in-class support, or a combination of both.
We start with the basics, learn about students' background knowledge, encourage the use of oral language, and measure progress and language proficiency using the S.T.E.P. document.
