Our Stoney Creek community is made up of families from many countries, each with its own unique culture and language. We celebrate this diversity, as it enriches the learning experiences for all students. At Stoney Creek, we welcome students from all corners of the world, and offer language support for our MLs (multilingual learners). We also have two Settlement Workers (SWIS) who support our newcomer families with their settlement needs.

An ML (Multilingual language learner) is a student whose first language is other than English or is a variety of English that is significantly different from what is used for instruction in Ontario schools. Some of these students were born in Canada, while others are new to Canada, and being exposed to English for the first time.
In elementary schools, ML teachers work with students in their regular classroom, in a group, or individually. ML support programs are developed with the classroom teacher based on each student's needs.
