Students will gain a practical and theoretical knowledge of Digital and Film Photography. Students learn various photographic techniques such as how to shoot a variety of action shots, depth of field and the ability to create artistic shots using the elements and principles of design. Students will learn to computer manipulate and enhance their photos using a variety of Photoshop techniques. Some traditional B & W darkroom techniques will also be explored. This course requires the ability to problem solve and work with a variety of photographic equipment. Students will acquire a solid foundation in a wide spectrum of photographic techniques and applications.

Students learn various photographic techniques such as how to shoot a variety of action shots, depth of field and the ability to create artistic shots using the elements and principles of design. Students will learn to computer manipulate and enhance their photos using a variety of Photoshop techniques. Some traditional B & W darkroom techniques will also be explored. This course requires the ability to problem solve and work with a variety of photographic equipment. Prerequisite: Visual Arts, Grade 9, Open, AVI1O1 or Visual Arts, Grade 10, Open, AVI2O1
Students will broaden their knowledge of photographic processes at the senior, academic level. More advanced photographic processes will be explored building on darkroom techniques and a greater emphasis on digital photography. Students will learn how to do studio lighting using a remote control flash system through portrait and fashion shoots. Students will learn commercial techniques for photographic enhancement. Students will build a comprehensive body of work and produce an impressive portfolio with a broad range of photographic applications. This course is an excellent accompaniment for any student wishing to pursue commercial art.
