Welcome to the Byron Southwood Virtual Library Learning Commons. I so miss seeing the students' engaging smiles and how they delight in discovering new worlds through books. Thank you parents for continuing to encourage their love of reading. This site contains resources to help with that journey. Please feel free to contact me at d.schulz@tvdsb.ca for any assistance.

"Reading is dreaming with open eyes."

Imagine what all of our library books might be doing while we are away. Last year I so enjoyed visiting Type Book Store in Toronto. Check out a video about what their books do at night.

Our all time favourite, The Library Song by Tom Chapin. Make sure you find a digital library that you can check out books from.

"Oh, I'm going down to the library, picking out a book, check it in, check it out."

Byron Southwood students love to read. There are 55 students from Gr. 4- 8 that participated in the Forest of Reading and worked so hard this year to complete their reading goals and are eligible to vote. There may be other students who did not get the chance to conference with Mrs. Schulz. Please contact me at d.schulz@tvdsb.ca to set up a time to conference. I would love to hear from you. Voting has been delayed so readers can vote up to May 30th. Once I have more details about the format of voting, I will be setting up a Google Classroom to invite eligible voters to. I so miss our conferencing times and the excitement of you sharing about the books you have read. Below is a link to titles of the different categories of the Forest of Reading. There are some titles available on line through the London Public Library and Epic books. Copy of How to access English Forest of Reading books during COVID-19?
