The boys golf team took the silver medal at WOSSA in St. Thomas on Thursday, October 3rd, just one stroke out of gold, and a trip to OFSAA.
Ben L. continued his stellar play, winning the individual WOSSA championship with a three under par 69, six strokes better than the next closest competitor. Ben has earned the right to represent Medway and the WOSSA conference at the OFSAA golf championships in Kingsville, from October 15th to the 17th.
Congratulations to Ben L., who shot an even par 72 to win the TVRA Central Individual Championship by five strokes on Tuesday, September 24th, 2019. The team of Ben, Brent S., Noah A. and Jared C. finished tied for first with Oakridge, 11 shots ahead of the third place team. It went to a playoff to determine the tournament champs, where Oakridge finally prevailed on the third sudden death hole. The team advances to WOSSA on Thursday, October 3rd, at St. Thomas Golf & Country Club.
The Medway boys' golf team remains dominant in Spring play, winning their second consecutive Spring Championship, by five strokes over Oakridge, at Thames Valley Golf Course on Tuesday, May 28th. Their three player team total of 221 improves their winning total from last year by 18 strokes! Ben L. tore up the course, shooting a 4 under par 66 to win the individual title. Job well done! Ben and Brent will finish the season on Monday at West Haven in the Spring Match Play Championship.
Three teams from Medway took part in the 21st annual Canadian Cancer Society Fundraiser tournament at Fanshawe Golf Course on May 16th. It was a shotgun-scramble format. The boys team scored 65, placing second, while the top girls team shot a 72 to win their second consecutive Leslie Petter Memorial trophy. Our players raised a total of $1313 for cancer education and research, and the tournament raised about $4000 this year, bringing its 21 year total to just over $99000.
The Medway Boys' Golf Team competed at WOSSA on Thursday, September 27th, at St. Thomas Golf & Country Club. They came up big, with all players contributing, placing third as a team, one stroke behind Stratford St. Mike's for second. With the possibility of all four players returning for next year, and with three of those players currently in grade nine or ten, the future looks bright for Medway golf. Players will next take to the links for Medway in the Spring. Details will be forthcoming in April.
The Medway Boys' Golf Team placed second at the 2018 TVRA Central tournament held on Tuesday, September 18th at Forest City National Golf Course, and will advance to WOSSA on September 27th, in St. Thomas.
