Are you New to Canada?
Susan Noort is a Program Coordinator for Tu Puente in partnership with five school boards, including Thames Valley.
This program has served hundreds of Low German Mennonite students and is the only of its kind. It allows for our students who travel to Mexico during the school year to continue working on the Ontario curriculum. This significantly increases their chance for success and keeps them connected while they are away!
Prior to this role, I have been in education for 27 years. I am the past Principal at Valley Heights Secondary School, my extended family are Low German Mennonite, and I am a regular attendee and supporter of events and conferences hosted by Mennonite Central Committee.
Are you Travelling Back and Forth From Mexico?
Janette wall is a SWIS worker with the YWCA in St. Thomas-Elgin, Janette helps students and families who are new to Canada settle into their school and community, including East Elgin. She can provide information, orientation and referrals to help with health needs, understanding the Canadian school system, housing, employment, becoming a Canadian citizen, and various daily needs.
