transferable work skills.
Grade 9
Grade 9 is very much a transition year to High School. Students learn the routines of secondary school environment, meet new teachers, and make new friends. We encourage our grade 9 students to get involved in one extra curricular activity-- a lunchtime club, intramurals at lunch, school team tryout, a school event (i.e. the Fall Fair, a dance, Sports Buy-in, etc.)
Students will be working on functional literacy, numeracy, social skills and learning about volunteering in the school and wider community. In additional to their academics, we currently offer a rotation in Art and Music. Our volunteer opportunities help students begin learning about the world of work.

Our unique Commercial Foods Kitchen rotation. It is in the only Developmental Education Commercial Foods program, in Ontario, of it's kind! Students will spend a full semester in the kitchen, learning by "step-process", how to complete tasks.
In the work experience placement, students will spend part of the day in the classroom, and the other part at a work experience placement. It is a chance to build some independence skills-- completing an interview for a job placement, learning and riding the LTC to and from the work placement, completing job specific training, and hands-on job experience.
