2021-2022 (delta edition)
We hope that this website will give you some information about our music program here at Governor Mifflin Intermediate School. We are working and organizing to be able to meet some of the unique challenges of the 2021 - 2022 school year and COVID - 19.
This website will not be used for direct communications but more as a "clearing house of information. We will be using DOJO and Google Classroom for communication to both students and families.
Some big ideas, points & FAQ.
We are still trying to figure logistics out, please be patient with us. :)
All ensemble rehearsals for current music students will begin on the second 6 Day cycle starting on Wednesday, September 1st, 2021.
We will not be having a recruitment assembly this year, but we welcome any beginners. They will be starting after October 1st.
We will attempt to keep lesson groups relatively small. Probably 2 - 6 students.
We maybe offering some enrichment opportunities outside the school day. Most likely, before school starting hours.
We will not permit the sharing of instruments. (except non-blowing classroom instruments like hand drums and ukuleles)
The average size of the large instrumental ensembles will be about 25 students or less.
Ensembles will meet once a 6 day cycle, for 40 minutes because of size and scheduling constraints.
We (GMIS) do have some instruments available for use from the school, especially the large, non-typical and harmony instruments like: bass, cello, bass clarinet, tuba, tenor sax.

Mr. Steven Holgate
Hello Mifflin Musicians! This year I will be teaching 5th grade band, 5th grade orchestra, 5th grade chorus and 6th grade music classes. I have been teaching music at Governor Mifflin School District since 1999. (Yes, the 20th century)
I am married to the famous art teacher in Mifflin Park Elementary. I have a young son, Josiah, who is entering 4th grade this year at Wilson SD. I love playing tuba, camping, fly fishing, hiking and trail running. I am looking forward to making music with YOU!!
Mrs. Lori Hoffmann
Hi everyone! This year I will be teaching 6th grade band, 6th grade orchestra, 6th grade chorus and the 5th grade music classes.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Ryan, son, Benjamin, and our pets! During quarantine, I discovered the joys of cooking, so the Hoffmann family has tried a lot of new foods!
This school year might be a little different, but it's going to be great! We'll make new memories and LOTS of music together!
