Assignment: Field Feedback

Field Feedback will occur every Thursday morning at 8:00am during the Crop and Soil Management Class. Students will share with the rest of the class, instructor and the farm manager on their aspect of the Education Garden space (as determined by a rotating schedule). The students will be evaluated on their care of the Education Garden space over the week by the following rubric [0=did not participate; 1=poor; 2=fair; 3=average; 4=above average; 5=excellent] and ability to respond to the following questions.

• Water: Irrigation systems (set/maintain/check if they are working or for leaks); hand water if necessary
• Integrated Pest Management: Scout for pests/diseases; apply appropriate methods if necessary
• Weeds: Scout for weeds and manage according to planting calendar
• Perennials: monitor perennial beds; make sure this area of the garden is not neglected
• Herbs: care for the herb patch; make sure this area of the garden is not neglected
• Records: Keep up the Garden notebook: daily weather, observations, tasks, harvests etc.
• General: Preform garden maintenance (weed whacking, mowing); mulch care; assist others as needed
