About Me

My name is Ms. Walsh and I love teaching 3rd graders! I have taught elementary school for over 20 years in Maine, in grades 3, 4 and 5! I feel so fortunate to have been able to teach at Great Falls Elementary since the school first opened its doors in 2011. It is such a positive, enthusiastic and healthy community of teachers and learners!

A little bit about my own education: I received my B.A. in Great Books Studies at Saint Anselm College, in Manchester, NH. I went on to receive graduate credits from UNH in outdoor experiential education. From there I attended the University of Maine, at Orono to attain my K-8 Elementary certification. Years later I went back to the University of Maine at Orono to get my Masters degree in Education.

I have 4, wonderful (now grown up) "kids" - my youngest son attends college at the University of Maine, Orono as a Political Science major. My oldest daughter attends USM in Portland as an English major and works part time. The 3 boys have all been involved in hockey. One played in Europe and now works as a sales rep for Stryker; one is the assistant Men's hockey coach at Colby College; and my youngest is the Video Coordinator and Statistical Analyst with the UMaine Black Bears hockey team. Home for me is in Scarborough near Higgins Beach with my fiancee Craig, and my cuddly, constantly shedding Golden Retriever, Bauer! In the summer I love to hike, take long walks and bike the Eastern Trail or carriage trails in Acadia, and spend quality time with family and friends. (And occasionally, I horseback ride!) In the winter - I love to read historical fiction, and challenge myself to cook "gourmet" recipes for friends and family!
