The financial component of Dual Credit classes are the responsibility of students and their parents. GISD is committed to ensuring partnerships that allow access for all students, regardless of their ability to pay. Therefore, we have carefully cultivated partnerships with both Ranger and Weatherford College to ensure Dual Credit is a possibility for all students with regard to financial aid. In addition, GISD offers an academic scholarship for qualifying students. See below for information on all of the financial aid opportunities available to Dual Credit students at Gordon ISD.
Financial Aid is available for students who qualify from both of our partner colleges. For both colleges, students and their parents must fill out the Federal Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA). Financial Aid will significantly lower, if not eliminate the cost of dual credit for qualifying students, so we encourage all to apply. Please see each colleges information below for the explanation of Financial Aid available.
Apply for Financial Aid from both colleges, by filling out one FAFSA form. Be sure to include both colleges on the receiving schools so they can both process your aid package.
Weatherford College provides financial aid through the Dual Enrollment grant. The Dual Enrollment Grant has been established to assist eligible high school students enrolled in dual credit classes with a portion of their tuition amount. It is for academic dual credit classes only and may cover up to 6 hours of tuition for dual credit academic classes. DUAL CREDIT ONLY: If you would like to be considered for a need-based Dual Enrollment Grant (DEG), please fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA, available through the financial aid office). Eligible students may be awarded up to 6 hours of in-district tuition each fall and spring semester to cover tuition costs for dual credit classes. The grant does not cover lab fees or textbooks.
Ranger College provides financial aid for students in dual credit through the FAFSA application. Please see the financial aid website at Ranger College for more information at https://www.rangercollege.edu/financial-aid/ .
Gordon ISD values students who apply themselves in their dual credit students and we are committed to promoting high academic acheivement. GISD offers an academic scholarship incentive. Students who receive an A in a dual credit course will receive 1/2 of their tuition price back after the successful completion of the course.
Students who receive financial aid for the full cost of tuition are not eligible for the GISD academic scholarship.
