Welcome to Leadership University, your online personal interactive student leadership journey. We’re excited that you’re here. ...We? Yes, we! Let me introduce you to my friend and colleague Scott Lang, who has worked hard to help make this opportunity available to you.
Before you begin your leadership journey, there are a few things that you should know.
This course is designed for music students in grades 7-12 who have successfully completed at least one semester in a Gooding music ensemble, and are interested in building their leadership skills. These skills are not just limited to music, and can be used in anything that you choose to do!
A select few will be chosen to be our 2020-2021 student leaders, but ALL STUDENTS who complete this training will benefit from the experience. These benefits include enhanced leadership skills and membership in Tri-M music honor society.
At our school, Leadership University is an extension of Tri-M music honor society. In addition to completing Leadership University, Tri-M student members must be enrolled in at least one music class for at least one semester, have a 2.0 GPA in their core classes, and a 3.0 in their music class(es), and be of strong character.
Student leaders are selected at the end of Module 1 (ending July 20, 2020), but your training is not complete and will continue as part of Tri-M throughout the school year.
We will have an in-person meeting in the music room on Monday, July 13 at 6pm for ALL leadership candidates. Upon request, we will make it possible to attend virtually. If you are sick or exhibiting symptoms, then please do not attend. Please let your director know if you are requesting any special accomodations.
Leadership candidates will communicate through an exclusive group on the BAND app. You will need to use it regularly throughout this process.
You will also need to use your @goodingsenators gmail to complete the Google Forms attached to each unit. Several features are locked to users outside of our school network.
Due to the pandemic, I will need extra help from student leaders this year! Specific things I will need help with include: auditions, camps, registration, back to school events, music room setup & organization, and anything else relating to the start of the new school year.
We are excited for you to join us on this special journey and wish you all the luck in your leadership travels!
Don't forget to join our EXCLUSIVE leadership group on the BAND APP.

Tri-M is the only national honor society for student musicians in the country. It highlights your school’s music program and gives students the opportunity to perform, lead, and serve.
Besides looking good on a college application, a Tri-M Music Honor Society chapter is easy to start, easy to run, and benefits students, the school, and the community.
Over 2,100 Tri-M chapters already enrich the lives of over 84,000 students throughout the country and around the globe.
To be selected soon as part of Leadership University. More details on Tri-M benefits and leadership positions below.
