Golden Key's premium event at every chapter is the annual New Member Reception where newly joined members are inducted into the society. After the New Member Reception, an Annual General Meeting is held where new committee officers are elected and the next annual plan for the chapter is defined.
In addition, Golden Key is constantly creating new opportunities for members to make a difference in their communities locally, regionally and internationally through leadership and service events around the world. The easiest way to a make a difference is at the local level. Chapters recognise member achievements and encourage excellence by surrounding members with other like-minded individuals. Each chapter plans its own service projects. Projects are primarily education-based, but have ranged from book drives to benefit children’s hospitals and cooking events to help the homeless, to volunterring in developing communities to build schools.

The Golden Key Primary Advisor is a university staff member of seniority who has the authority to take on and delegate responsibilities at their discretion. The Primary Advisor is chiefly responsible for the smooth running of the annual Membership Drive. At other times, the Primary Advisor acts as a mentor to the Chapter's Executive Committee, encouraging student leaders to host events and activities that are in the Society's three pillars, and helps identify where Golden Key's activities can support the University's aims and objectives.
The Griffith Chapter Primary Advisor has been recognised as the Asia Pacific Advisor of the Year in 2011 and 2017 and has been re-elected as the Chair of the International Leadership Council commencing a 3 year term in June 2024.
