Feb. 16-20

• We are finishing up our Michigan Ecosystems unit this week. 

• Our final project will be due on Monday, Feb. 16th

• Our final ecosystems test will be on Tuesday, Feb. 17th

• If your 6th grader misses a class, please have them review emails because if they need to catch up on something I will send them what to do. They will need to complete any work I email them about so they don't get behind. 

• Esta semana estamos terminando nuestra unidad sobre ecosistemas de Michigan.

• Nuestro proyecto final debe entregarse el lunes 16 de febrero.

• Nuestro examen final sobre ecosistemas será el martes 17 de febrero.

• Si su hijo/a de 6.º grado falta a una clase, por favor, pídale que revise los correos electrónicos, ya que si necesita ponerse al día con algo, le enviaré instrucciones. Deberá completar cualquier trabajo que le envíe por correo electrónico para que no se atrase.

Week of  Janaury 26-30

Please keep in mind that we have three types of assignments:

Cool Downs: Quick quizzes completed in class at the end of each lesson. If absent, can be found as a Google Form or Google Drawing in Classroom.

Practice Problems:  Completed as classwork or homework for additional practice at the end of the lesson. These are found in the book or in the online textbook in Google Classroom.

Khan Academy: The problems for this unit as assigned in the online app as we complete the unit.  These will be due at the end of  the unit. Students can work on these online at any time at home or at school.

This week, we will complete the testing that was snowed out last week.  On Monday, we will take the vocabulary quiz and review the study guide for the test (vocabulary boxes are due on this day).  We will take the test on Tuesday (all late work is due on this day).  From there, we will wrap up unit 3 and begin our pretesting and vocabulary boxes for Unit 4.

Semana del 26 al 30 de enero

Tengan en cuenta que tenemos tres tipos de tareas:

Repasos rápidos: Cuestionarios cortos que se completan en clase al final de cada lección. Si están ausentes, pueden encontrarlos como un formulario o dibujo de Google en Classroom.

Problemas de práctica: Se completan como trabajo en clase o tarea para practicar al final de la lección. Se encuentran en el libro o en el libro de texto en línea en Google Classroom.

Khan Academy: Los problemas de esta unidad se asignan en la aplicación en línea a medida que completamos la unidad. La fecha límite de entrega es al final de la unidad. Los estudiantes pueden trabajar en ellos en línea en cualquier momento, en casa o en la escuela.

Esta semana, completaremos las evaluaciones que se pospusieron la semana pasada debido a la nieve. El lunes, haremos el cuestionario de vocabulario y repasaremos la guía de estudio para el examen (las fichas de vocabulario se entregan este día). Haremos el examen el martes (todas las tareas atrasadas se entregan este día). A partir de ahí, terminaremos la unidad 3 y comenzaremos con la evaluación inicial y las fichas de vocabulario de la unidad 4.

Aquí tienen un resumen de la semana:

Lunes: Cuestionario de vocabulario y repaso de la guía de estudio para el examen de la unidad.

Martes: Examen de la unidad 3.

Miércoles: Finalización de la unidad 3 (completar exámenes o recuperaciones, trabajo de Khan Academy).

Jueves: Evaluación inicial de la unidad 4 y fichas de vocabulario.

Viernes: Repaso de habilidades básicas de fracciones.

Aug.  25-Sept. Sept. 26, 2025

• ELA grammar, this WEEK: ELA Grammar Slides review basic 6th -rammar skills: parts of speech (nouns, proper nouns, pronouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, articles, and conjunctions), subject and predicates, proper usage of punctuation (commas, quotation marks, and apostrophes), homophones, synonyms, and antonyms. 

• Students will start a NEW unit: Unit 1

  • Unit 1 - Personal Narrative (Beginning, middle, and end) - Completed on Sept. 26, 2025

  • Unit 2 - "The Cay" Novel focuses on mood, tone, stated, implied, and character traits - First half due Oct. 24th, 2025

    • "Cited" Text evidence (R.A.C.E = restatement, answer, cited evidence, and explanation).

Common Core State Standards:   

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.6.3: Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective techniques, relevant descriptive details, and well-structured event sequences.

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.6.3.A: Engage and orient the reader by establishing a context and introducing a narrator and/or characters; organize an event sequence that unfolds naturally and logically.

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.6.3.B: Use narrative techniques, such as dialogue, pacing, and description, to develop experiences, events, and/or characters.

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.6.3.C: Use a variety of transition words, phrases, and clauses to convey sequence and signal shifts from one-time frame or setting to another.

Homework occurs ONLY if students DO NOT complete work while in class or miss a class and need to get caught up.

• Gramática de ELA esta SEMANA: Diapositivas de gramática de ELA repasan las habilidades gramaticales básicas de sexto grado: partes de la oración (sustantivos, nombres propios, pronombres, verbos, adverbios, adjetivos, artículos y conjunciones), sujeto y predicados, uso adecuado de la puntuación (comas, comillas y apóstrofes), homófonos, sinónimos y antónimos.

• Los estudiantes comenzarán una NUEVA unidad: Escritura información

  • Unidad 1- Personal Narratives

  • Unidad 2 - "The Cay" Mood, tone, direct, implied, and character traits

    • "Cited" Text evidence (R.A.C.E = restatement, answer, cited evidence, and explain).
