Due to our success in private practice, academics and with many years of experience, we embrace the challenge that providing a consistent level of high quality dental care is a difficult endeavor. Accordingly, we sought a solution to provide our clinicians with a uniquely designed professional support system that provides valid scientific information and an unparalleled continuing dental education.

As you transition from the concept of a solo practice and autonomy, PDCM offers a more contemporary approach to health care through a sense of professional “community”. It is our belief that this is one of the most important benefits of our mutual alignment. We are passionate about our ability to provide evidence-based patient outcomes and we understand that the basis of our success will be education.

PCDM University was developed as the centerpiece of this vision. It is described as a highly focused educational initiative that provides our dentists with a continuum of knowledge, mentorship, support and professional development. The culture at PCDM understands that dentistry is difficult and we have therefore developed educational concepts that mitigate these stresses while providing support. The entire concept was created internally through the coordinated efforts of Joseph Carpentieri DDS (Assistant Clinical Professor at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine) and Scott Asnis, DDS (Co-founder and CEO of Dental365). This was developed by dentists, for dentists. We subscribe to the philosophy that providing our clinicians with important clinical information will result in “better dentists” which will lead to “better treatment outcomes.”

The PCDM University Concept is composed of the following components:

Continuing Education Credits

We offer a sufficient volume of courses that will provide needed continuing education credits to all clinicians. These materials are accessible without a cost or the need to either travel or take time away from your clinical practice. You can choose courses of interest and review on your own time and at your own pace.

On-boarding Top Ten Modules

This series of modules represents a summation of our basic clinical guidelines and a representation of our most important core values. It is our first educational step with regard to on-boarding new offices and as well as for doctors that have recently joined our group. We respectfully suggest that these materials be completely reviewed, understood, mastered and fully implemented. Our experience has shown this information will enhance your enjoyment of dentistry while providing consistent high quality health care.

Clinical Protocols

The most proven method to deliver consistent high quality health care is to have clinicians follow a series of scientifically-based clinical steps. This will ensure “standardization or uniformity of treatment” which will lead to more predictable outcomes. Under the umbrella of Dental365 University, various clinical protocols were developed from simple restorative treatment, principles of smile design, vertical dimension of occlusion, to surgical extractions/bone grafting to surgical implant placement. The overall goal of these educational modules is to increase our doctors’ clinical confidence so that one will be able to provide consistently high level treatment outcomes that meets or exceeds patient expectations.

Evidence-based Literature

The concept of being an “academically-based clinician” can actually occur without an academic appointment through an understanding of valid and current scientific literature! Important classic and current dental literature will be shared on a routine basis and organized by topic. This is an important concept to “stay current” without reading large volumes of papers that often do not yield valid clinical information. This concept is convenient, practical and clinically relevant.

Clinical Pearls

We understand the time constraints of daily life and this concept offers a different and even faster way to provide educational information. With this approach, you will receive clinical examples/ practical tips, common complications/mistakes as well as keys to successful cases. It should be helpful for any problem solving and treatment planning considerations. For example, one correspondence would consist of as little as one x-ray with a statement or a few sentences. It should take no less than 5 minutes to read. This will be a quick way to share small bits of useful, practical clinical information.

Consultation Review Board

The doctors at Dental365 are proud to offer a groundbreaking concept called the “Consultation Review Board”. This unique treatment planning approach offers our patients and dentists the unique opportunity to have their case reviewed by a panel of doctors who are specialists in different disciplines within the Dental 365 community. Where the virtual second opinion can address more simple needs, this option addresses more comprehensive or complex dentistry. Through a collaborative peer-to-peer process, a patient’s specific needs or condition will be discussed in a university type of atmosphere with the goal of providing evidence-based treatment to achieve “best care outcomes”.
