Clinical informed consent is one of the most important components of patients' Electronic Health Record. Please be mindful that obtaining consent prior to root canals, extractions, bone grafting, implants, or any procedure in which an unfavorable outcome is a possibility is required on the day of the procedure.
The consent forms are located in "Letters'' under the tab that looks like a printer to the left of the "Search Patient..." area on the toolbar. Please familiarize yourself with them to ensure that your front desk staff is selecting the most appropriate one for your procedure to be presented along with financial consent.
Financial informed consent is also of great importance and goes a long way in creating a good patient experience. Prior to anesthetizing the patient, confirm that your front desk staff has presented and obtained consent for the financial responsibility of your patient’s planned procedure. In doing so, you will help to foster trust between your patient, your staff, and you as a practitioner. As a clinician, it is not your responsibility to discuss fees with the patient so please confirm what you plan to do with your treatment coordinator for each patient.
