Take Flight is an intensive structured literacy intervention program developed in the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders at Scottish Rite for Children (below).
Take Flight is built around routines that help students latch on to the skills being taught, so most days in a Take Flight-based class follow the same structure, with variation as needed to individualize the experience, and make sure students develop the required skills for reading. After lesson 35, the routines are divided into A-days, and B-days. A-days continue the original structure of introducing and pracitcing new learning while reinforcing previously taught skills. B-days are designed to transition students into independence, and primarily focus on building fluency and comprehension skills. Overviews of both are included below, if you have any questions about the structures of Take Flight - please don't hesitate to reach out!
