Notes about grading:
I grade essays using the 6-trait model. However, modifications are made in order to reflect the skills we focus on with each particular essay. For an explanation of the 6-trait model, click here.
See slideshow for how I deal with especially problematic issues.
Specific rubrics will be posted with essay descriptions in Google Classroom.
All essays must be submitted as Google Docs, double spaced, and using 12 point Times New Roman font (as stated in the course syllabus). Deductions will be made if these requirements are not met.
Classroom Join Codes:
will be posted at the beginning of the semester
Textbook for Second Term:
Practical Argument by Kirszner and Mandell, 3rd Edition
ISBN: 9781319028565
If you copy the ISBN into a Google search, it will show you all the places to get it. (It's a light blue book with a bicycle and backpack on the front.)
Buy it used, rent it, borrow it -- whatever you can do without spending a bunch of money. We will use it frequently.
*I have a limited number of copies of older editions that I can check out to students who are not enrolling for college credit and can't get their own (for a legitimate reason). They will be of limited usefulness but might be better than nothing. See me.*
