Library Policies
Students are expected to take good care of library books, but we know accidents happen! We do ask that families pay for lost or damaged books, so that we can replace them.
Students come to the library twice a week: once for checkout and once for a lesson.
Lessons over the course of a year may include the following topics: navigating the library and online catalog, exploring genres, learning research skills, discussing digital citizenship issues, discovering poetry, and even creating some art!
Library time is also "class time," so students are expected to follow instructions so that we can make the most of our 30 minutes together!
Classes can earn points each time they come to the library and work towards earning the "fun seats" on a checkout day.
The number of books students may check out at one time are as follows:
Kindergarten: 1
1st grade: 2
2nd through 4th grade: 3
Exceptions are made for school projects requiring a book.
