EHS TENNIS ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT! - Elyse Bozarth

Former EHS Tennis Player Elyse Bozarth graduated from Eisenhower High School in 2021. She was a three year varsity player that was able to battle back from a knee injury that kept her from playing her Junior year. During her time on the court, Elyse was a true competitior. She ended her career 2nd all time in doubles wins and 5th all time in matches played at EHS, all in three years of play due to her injury. Elyse also has been so helpful to our summer tennis program by helping coach our younger players. Read more below to see what she is up to now after high school!

Interview with Elyse:

1. What are you up to after tennis/graduating from EHS?

Bozarth - I just finished my second year at Wichita State University where I'm studying accounting. I'm also a member of the Delta Gamma sorority on campus which is lots of fun. I've made quite a few friends through Greek Life, and we get to help out the community through our philanthropy. I work at the West Wichita Menards in the front-end department.

2. What was your favorite memory from your time playing tennis at EHS?

Bozarth - Some of my favorite memories happened on the van rides back to the school after meets. One of my favorite memories was when I had the team over for brunch before the league meet started because it was being hosted at Eisenhower so we had extra time before we had to be there. It was really fun getting to spend time with the girls outside of tennis, and I think we all benefited from it that day.

3. Do you still play or hit at all?

Bozarth - I occasionally hit the ball with my friends, and I actually played intramural tennis at WSU in the spring of last year with another of Eisenhower's alums, Emma O'Keefe. I miss the competition and the games we used to play while at Eisenhower.

4. Any piece of advice for younger/current EHS tennis players?

Bozarth - One piece of advice I would give any player is to not worry about what happened the last time you played a certain player. Just focus on your matches one at a time and BE CONSISTENT!
