About Me
I am married to my high school sweetheart. We met my sophomore year of high school. We were best friends before we decided to date. After college we were married and began our careers. After six years or marriage we had our first beautiful, amazing daughter, Kristen. She is a fourth grade teacher in Osage City, and she is an amazing young woman with whom I am so very proud. Three years after Kristen we welcomed another gorgeous, loving daughter, Kaitlyn. She is a sophomore at Kansas State University, and is proving to be a fantastic young lady as well. We added to our family again, and again, and again. We have two goofy dogs. Mak, our first dog, is eight years old and stubborn, but he loves to love. Piper is our little stinker. She is four years old, and I just love to snuggle her. We love them both dearly! My husband’s mom lives with us. Most of the rest of my family lives in Oklahoma. BOOMER! SOONER!
I went to Union High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I graduated with a bit over 800 classmates. Go Redskins!! In college I attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. I studied Early Childhood and Elementary Education, and I graduated with a degree in Early Childhood getting me certified for Pre-kindergarten-ninth grade. As the years rolled on I added to my certification in Science, Math and Social Studies, becoming certified through twelfth grade. I have my master's degree in Special Education.
I started teaching in Wichita in 1999. I taught a first and second grade combination class at Kelly Elementary. Three years later I moved to Cleaveland Traditional Magnet where I taught second grade for three years. When Kaitlyn was born in 2005, I began teaching part time in a a first grade classroom with a wonderful partner. The school district decided to end part time jobs so I went back to my old second grade classroom once again. Later I moved to fourth and fifth grades for a year each before quitting so that I could take care of my kids at home. In 2015 I began substitute teaching in Wichita and Goddard school districts. This allowed me to be home with the kids and still fulfill my love for the classroom. I wanted to match my schedule to my children so I began subbing in middle school and high school more and more often. I found some new loves: secondary education. In 2018, I felt the call for the classroom again. This time the call was high school. I LOVE my job. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!
When school is out and I have nothing to do (yeah, right.) I like to read suspense, thrillers, and mysteries. I especially like finding a great series I can dive into. If I had unlimited money I would love to travel to lots of historical places. I especially love American history and would love to see all the big places from our history. My husband and I would love to get an RV and travel the USA with our sweet doggies.
