OMAR VICENTE '14

Church Farm School

At the end of his CFS career, Omar Vicente ‘14 was intending to pursue a major in business with a concentration in finance and a minor in psychology at the University of Richmond. He graduated CFS with an internship with JP Morgan Chase already lined up in the summer between graduating from CFS and starting his freshmen year at Richmond. He got a taste of what the business world could be and was hesitant to fully commit to that lifestyle as his focus in college. In his sophomore year, Omar decided to drop all his business-related classes and started taking more psychology focused courses. From there, the rest was history and he searched for classes that fulfilled his intellectual curiosities. He graduated college with a double major of psychology and religious studies and a minor in women's gender and sexuality studies (WGSS). Omar knew he wanted to work with people in some capacity. He found himself working for City Year New York, an Americorp program. After a year of working with 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders during the school day and running their after-school program he found himself looking for more. Eventually, he found the job posting for cottage faculty on the CFS website in the summer of 2019. Fast forward to 2024 and he has been able to do a lot in five 5 years at CFS. From working in the cottage, to coaching, and now teaching and becoming 9th grade level chair. He is unsure of where this may all lead to, but hopes to continue with the vision he had after college, working with people.
