Classroom Rules: 

1. Be Respectful: to self, others, and property.

2. Be On Time: for school, class, and with assignments

3. Be Prepared: have ALL materials (planner, Chromebook, writing utensil, paper, novel, etc.)

4. Complete: all assignments, projects, labs on time

5. Be Safe: horseplay or putting your hands on others is prohibited

6. Use Time Wisely: if you finish early, have something else to work on; always have a book.

7. During Labs you must be paying attention at all times!

Classroom Procedures 

1. Homework:

   1. All Homework will be posted to Google Classroom, there will also be paper copies available for students who need them. 

   2. All homework is due on the given due date (listed on the Google Classroom assignment).

   3. Be sure you are submitting work on time and using the “Turn In” button on the assignment.

      1. Or placing it in the Turn In Basket (When given a paper copy) on the wall when you arrive to class. 

   4. The previous day assignment is due upon arrival to class. (This means there will be no working on it when you arrive to my room). 

2. Absent Work:

   1. Homework for the absent student will be posted in Google Classroom. Students will be entirely responsible for getting and completing the work they missed (Check the file folder in the Student Center for any of the assignments/notes missed). 

   2. If students miss a test/quiz they will have to set a time with me to make up their work. (lunch or early mornings are best). 

   3. Please see the School Homework Policy for information on absent work.

3. Late Work:

   1. Work will be accepted the next day with a 10% deduction in earned points. 

   2. I will not accept late work after the test has been given and or taken.

4. Notes: Any notes for the day will be located on the wall in the Notes Basket. Please pick up before taking your seat. If you miss any notes they will be located in the Missing Bin.

5. Tardies- After your 4th Tardy to class you will receive a lunch detention from Ms. Franzen.

6. Passes- Students will be able to use passes sparingly during class, they will have to fill out an E-hall Pass in order to leave the Science Classroom. 

** If students are abusing passes they will not be able to use them. 

Grading Policies 

Grades in this course will be based on the following criteria:

- Class participation-Bell Ringers: 5%

- Homework assignments: 15%

- Labs: 35%

- Quizzes and tests: 45%

Lab SAFETY and Procedures 

At the beginning of every year the students will need to take home and have signed the lab safety contract. If the contract is not signed then the student will not be able to participate in lab, but they will have an alternative assignment. 

The Safety Contract is Below in case students need a reminder as to how to behave during a lab.
